Parents As Teachers

Parents as Teachers (PAT) is a free, voluntary program designed to assist parents in getting the best possible start in life for their children.

Harvey County PAT is for any family living in Newton (USD 373), Sedgwick (USD 439), Halstead/Bentley (USD 440), Burrton (USD 369) and Hesston (USD 460) school districts with children from pregnancy to school entry.

PAT offers:

*Personal Visits: provided by certified parent educators to help parents understand what to expect at each stage of their child's development

*Screenings: standardized look at each child to be sure they are developing in all areas as expected and provide early detection of potential problems

*Group Connections: opportunity for parents to meet other parents, gain new insights and share experiences, and participate in parent-child activities

*Resource Network: access to other services, such as books, videos, other professionals and area-wide programs that may benefit the child's needs

You are your child's first and most important teacher - we can help you understand what to expect at each stage of development.
